What is a breastfeeding top ?

OK so alot of questions i get from people is what exactly is a breastfeeding top or nursing top ? What can it do for me?

Basically you have had a baby and you want to breastfeed your baby, and as you will know babies want to be fed alot, all times of the day and when they want a feed they WANT IT NOW!!!  Now combine this with your needs as a mother, you’re body has just gone through 1 of it’s biggest changes it probably ever will, and it’s still changing to meet the demands of your baby.

Getting use to the idea of getting your bangers out (apologies i watch far too much Gok ) all the time is a shocking idea, and pretty alien to us, add this to the fact you don’t really want to flash your new post baby muffin top to the world and the actual act of breastfeeding can be abit off putting for some ladies especially in public.

So our breastfeeding tops here at Mama Feelsgood are designed in a special way so to enable you to breastfeed whilst keeping your tummy covered and providing you with discretion whilst you feed your child. Each breastfeeding shirt is designed like 2 shirts in 1 , the under layer provides the cover for your tummy and has double side openings on each side which enable you to pull to 1 side and feed your baby. The top layer looks like a regular shirt, and when the top shirt is down you can’t see the nursing openings at all.

Mothers of Multiple Births Have An Increased Risk of Baby Blues

A survey shows that mothers of twins and triplets have a greater risk of getting postpartum depression.

A new study has shown that mothers who give birth to multiple babies, have twice the risk of getting the baby blues or postpartum depression. It was shown that mothers of twins or triplets were more exhausted and took care of themselves less, which led them to develop the baby blues more easily. Even though they have more than one baby, they seem to get no more help than mothers with one baby at a time.

The Twins and Multiple Births Association (Tamba) surveyed approximately 1400 multiple birth mothers and found out that 17% of those moms suffered from some sort of post natal depression. This is almost double the rate of what single birth mothers have reported.

Maggie Couston, a psychologist and mother of triplets, said: “The months after my triplets’ birth should have been a joyful experience but instead I felt exhausted and isolated.”  She goes on to say, “My babies were the most precious thing in the world to me but I thought I wasn’t good enough for them and frequently thought of ending things or walking away.”

According to the researchers, simple things like parent education classes and providing support to the mother in the first few weeks after birth can dramatically help a new mother not suffer from severe postpartum depression.

Is Heidi Klum pregnant with baby no 4 ?

I am the biggest fan of project runway (ladies it is the final tonight on Sky 1 in the UK tonight) so was interested in hearing there are rumours that Heidi Klum the model and presenter / producer of Project Runway is expecting her 4th baby.

Heidi Klum and her husband Seal are reportedly expecting their fourth child sometime in September. While the couple has not made the big announcement themselves, the rumors started when pictures were leaked online of altered couture gowns that were being changed to make room for a baby bump. Almost as soon as they went up, they were taken down.

The famous couple already has two biological children together and Heidi has a daughter that Seal has adopted. Henry, 3, and Johan, 2, are the youngeest of the three children and the little girl, Leni, is almost 5.

Heidi always looks so good either pregnant or not, it’s so unfair some ladies are born with all the luck !!!!!

If these rumours are true or not we will let you know, maybe it’s a case of the papers spreading rumours again as they like to do. Either way Heidi and Seal we wish you all the best.

The Hospital- Teenage mothers / pregnancy channel 4 tonight 9pm

This is episode 2 of series 1 and explores teenage pregnancies and the effects it has on the NHS and the teenagers themselves.

It’s on at 9pm tonight so am going to watch it, being a mother myself (at the age of 30) i can’t imagine what it must be like to be a teenager and having a baby. Alot of responsibility at a young age, some might shine whilst others i can imagine must find it very tough.

Katie Holmes ” I’m not pregnant”

Katie Holmes has rubbished claims that she is pregnant with husband Tom Cruise’s second child.

Wow this is one lady experiencing alot of  pressure from the press, she can’t even have a slight buldge in the tummy department and everyone starts suggesting she is pregnant.

The All My Sons star – who is currently working on new film The Extra Man in New York – says that she is not expecting a bundle of joy, despite the persistent rumours

“i’m not pregnant right not” Katie tells Glamour magazine.

Gotta say Tom cruise and Katie Holmes daugyter Suri is really cute, looks just like her mum i think .

Why Louise Redknapp chose not to breastfeed baby Beau

louise Redkanpp gave an interview to The Mirror newspaper about having to leave her son Beau when he was seven weeks old so she could travel to the USA to finish her documentory about ” Supker Skinny pregnancies”, she said leaving her son “I was in knots having to go away, even though I was leaving him with the people I trust most in the world. ”

In her interview, Louise Redknapp goes onto talk about her choice not to breastfeed her new baby son :

“From the outset with both Charley and Beau I knew I didn’t want to breastfeed.

I asked the nurses in the hospital not to put me under any pressure and not to make me feel bad that I wanted to use bottles – thank goodness they understood and respected my decision.

I’ve had friends who’ve got really upset because they’ve been made to feel guilty that they didn’t want to breastfeed.

I can understand that people believe that breast is best, and not for one moment am I suggesting that bottle is better, but I’m more comfortable using bottles. “

I know along with the majority of new mums that breast is best for your baby, but i got to say i think it is quite brave of Louise to say she chose not to breastfeed her son. There is so much pressure to breastfeed your baby that sometimes it can feel over whelming, and i do agree with the more relaxed the mother feels the better it is for both mother and baby, and women shouldn’t beat themselves up about either not being able to or not wanting to breastfeed. Perhaps Expressing your milk should be taught explained moreto new mothers , both techniques and the actual fact it is an option to mums.

Wow whats up with all the Buffy the vampire cast they are all having babies!!

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. are expecting their first child together, a source close to the couple confirms exclusively to PEOPLE. “They’re very excited,” says the source, adding that the actress, 31, is due in the autumn.

Gellar, who has been married to Prinze, 33, for six years and starred along with him in the Scobby Doo film will have her biggest role yet …a mum :)

Funny because David Boreanz or Angel is expecting a baby too, so Buffy & Angel are both having babies!!

Celebrities use twitter to announce babies birth

Alot of celebrities are using twitter more and more. Famous twitter users being Barack Obama , Stephen Fry, jonathan Ross etc etc but alot are using twitter to release the news of their new baby and to show their first pictures to the public .

One recent example of this was Jamie Oliver and the arrival of his new baby daughter Petal. Jamie posted pictures pre and post delivery, one photograph released onto twitter showed Jamie in a hospital surgical hat pre baby , and another was a lovely picture outside the hospital with Jools and petal. It’s amazing to get such a private in sight into the couples journey into parent hood and in a way it’s nice the famous couple could control which pictures were released as apose to press shots which they have very little control over which shots are used.

American singer Erykah Badu and her boyfriend, Jay Electronica, have taken “sharing” to a whole new level — by guiding their fans through every minute detail of Badu’s homebirth via Twitter. Now this is a little more extreme. The singer and her boyfriend proceeded to post alot of detail about the birth how man cm’s she was dilated etc, hmmm maybe a case of too much information?

Which breastfeeding top do you prefer?

We are all about progression here at Mama Feelsgood and we really wanted to know as a nursing mother which kinds of breastfeeding tops ie the mechanisms they use to feed do you prefer?

Do you like our current method of breastfeeding tops which work on a double shirt method, you basically lift up the top shirt and underneath is another shirt but with double openings so you have your stomach covered at all times along with your back.

There are other methods of nursing opening, tops which you pull down to feed your baby rather than pull up.

Shirts which are wrap / cross over style which you can pull to one side to feed your baby. Which do you think you would prefer?

There are even breastfeeding tops which have a built in shrug, but to be honest i think these look abit hideous (just my personal opinon).

We really want to enourage ladies not to feel intimidated to feed their babies whilst out and about in public and providing good funky breastfeeding clothing can only help the situation. You don;t want to buy a top because it does the job you’ve got to like the top too and thats what we are really trying to do here at Mama Feelsgood, just like then name suggests we want mama’s to feel good in themselves.

Is Kate Moss Pregnant?

This seems to be one pregnancy rumour that won’t go away. In the past 2 months or so there have been various photographs of Kate with apparetnly “a baby bump”, to be honest i can’t say i saw much of a baby bump; maybe she just had a large meal or something.

But this recent picture click here to see of when Kate opened the New York TopShop store on Thursday had people chatting again. Some people have said it is a defined bump but i’m not sure. I know Kate Moss have every right to keep her personal life just that but it can’t be nice to under sucj speculation all the time. I mean maybe she just has gas or somthing!

When asked about the pregnancy rumours Kate moss was quoted as saying”I’ve just started wearing bras. It’s a miracle. Great timing for my lingerie collection. I am a woman now. It’s true. Honestly, I’ve never worn a bra in my life. Ever! It’s so awful, even my friends are phoning me up and saying, ‘Are you pregnant? And I’m like ‘No! I just put on a couple of pounds and they went in the right place.”

Well only time will tell, thats if anyone is interested anyway???
