Congratulations to GMTV’s Claire Nasir whom is pregnant.

The baby is due New Years eve  so that will be a nice celebration (well claire herself might be a little busy!).

She says: “It’s a miracle. After fertility treatment for the last two years, we were giving up hope.”

Claire whom suffers from fibroids thought there maybe a possibility they could have affected her fertility, so is said to be thrilled to be pregnant.

The condition swelled her stomach and led some viewers to think she was pregnant and to write in to the show congratulating her.

In 2002 she had a uterine artery embolisation to shrink the fibroids, but was warned by doctors that she may never be able to have a baby.

‘When I first discovered a lump in my stomach and began to feel constipated, I assumed I had a stomach problem,’ she told the Daily Mail.

‘It did not even enter my mind that the problem could be gynaecological. When the lump didn’t go away, I began to feel more and more concerned,’ 

After an examination, a doctor told Clare she must be at least 18 weeks pregnant but, when a test came back negative, his new diagnosis was that Clare could be suffering anything from fibroids to ovarian cancer

My fibroids grew so large they distended my abdomen and I looked pregnant. 

Colleagues congratulated me, and viewers would send me letters asking when the baby was due.

At that point, I didn’t even know what fibroids were – I was just glad it wasn’t cancer. But when I told my gran, she turned white with shock. She assumed I’d have to have a hysterectomy, because that was the only treatment in her day.

At the time, Clare was devastated. ‘I was all too aware of the bitter irony. Having fibroids might stop me ever carrying a baby to full term.’ She said at the time. 

The baby is due on New Year’s Eve.
