OK so you might be thinking what the heck is a breastfeeding friendly hairstyle aren’t they all breastfeeding friendly? Well from my personal experience no – i have quite long hair and both my daughters when feeding loved to yank my hair it it freakin hurt. Also i lost quite a lot of hair during pregnancy so i had these flyaway little whispy bits on my fringe which seemed to have a life of their own; so i kinda wanted to hold onto the hair i had! So i had to tie my hair back a lot – so in a vain attempt to make myself feel better i hit You Tube and looked up some easy to do hair styles which made my breastfeeding experience happier and made me feel good so i’m gonna share

How cool is this, of course you have to have the hair to be able to do this but great way to get out the way and it doesn’t take THAT long. I did this but didn’t do the plait around the base on piny tail because i am lazy!

Mermaid Tail braid

This Mermaid tail braid is SO easy to do and is cool when your hair is a little bit dirty too, you know the days your baby chucks up a little and you haven’t got time to wash your hair again lol. I joke ! Here is a great blog which shows pictures of how to do this braid .

Braided head band

OK so this maybe the girl off of The Hills (i can’t remember her name, and i don’t mean this is in a horrible way) but it’s not a high maintenance style plus it keeps your hair off your face. You can do this with shorter hair styles too, there is a fabulous site called Hair Romance that shows how to do braided head bands with shorter hair. There are also tons of funky hairstyle on their site which they show you you can do.

This You Tube video is cool for shorter hair although looks like you will need a friend to help – i’ve never done this one my ability to do a french plait is pants!

The top 2 styles were my favourites- also just chucking it up in a bun was cool , what was yours?

Sometimes in life there are times when you could just give yourself a pat on the back, i LOVE our new hooter nursing shirt so much it literally makes me smile when i look at it. The print has a really vintage retro cool feel about it, it reminds me of traveling through California in the sun, having no worries and having a blast…. ooh sorry just got carried away then ! ha ha.

Paul & Ben who do our screen printing (all our prints are hand printed) made the design look a little washed out but not too washed; it’s quite a skill to get the affect just right and these guys have been printing for years and years and really know their stuff, so our nursing tops always come out amazing. Lots of work goes into creating our breastfeeding tops so when you see them come out like this it’s HIGH 5 time!

Laura our photographer was amazing & so was our model Nat, this was shot last weekend when the weather here in Bristol was totally gross; we are talking rain that would just not stop and the fact that any shots were taken just goes to show how fab they are. It;s so cool to work with people who really get what you want. I am in love with these pictures.

We are so proud to have this nursing shirt in our collection , we have another 2 new prints coming up over the next week too which are just as lush. Thought we would pace out the awesomness of our new breastfeeding top collection!

Ferm Living Owl Wallpaper £59.99 per roll

When i was younger i can’t remember my wallpaper being funky, i think i plastered pictures of shoestring (yes i am that old, google it if you’re too young ha ha) or Paul weller. Now we have under loads of funky wallpaper for kids and great wall stencils. Here are a pick of my favourite ones available, although be warned some of them are quite pricy :

Ferm Livings Mushroom soup wallpaper £69.99 per roll – ouch

The great thing about Ferm living is they do lots of accessories to go with their wallpaper, so duvet covers, cushions, play mobiles etc, down side is they are pricey . Not sure how difficult it would be to hang this paper either? Although i often say i personally don;t do DIY because my motto is “that will do” and that drives Matt insane.

This gorgeous wallpaper is by a brand call ISAK it’s made in the UK and it’s made from sustainable forrest so you don;t have to loose sleep over all the trees that have been chopped to make you little ones room look gorg. It’s £38.50 per roll

If wall papering isn’t your thing you could always paint the wall a colour you love and then adorn the walls with wall stickers. I have been looking at the Ferm Living Owl wall stickers for Erins room since she was born (she’s 2 now) and i still haven’t bought them. I think it’s the price which outs me off but i keep coming back to look at them , they are lush.

If sticker don’t rock your world there are always letters which you can paint and stick or nail to the wall. There are quite a lot of sellers on Ebay which sell by the letter so it’s cool for spelling your childs name out .

Just imagine this being your childs room …you get what i meant hough right?

OR if you are a little more out there you could commission a piece of art to be drawn directly onto your loved ones walls?

There is no disbuting there are just some things nursing mothers can’t do without <del>moosive bar of chocolate , foot rub from a hunk </del> and good breastpads are on of these things. Now i myself am pretty late to the lets get good breast pad party, with both my girls i used disposable ones which seemed to have a life of their own and would wander around under my clothes (sometimes over, being in Tesco express with one stuck to the outside of my top my unusual for me) so i never found the golden brand. But i’ve heard through the grapevine there are some good ones out there. So lets start with the reusable ones:

Bamboobies

Apparently they are the softest, they’re leak proof and they don’t show. I have no idea if they actually are (if anyone has used these please let me know and i can add to site ) but from a totally superficial basis they look cute (they are shaped like hearts).

LilyPadz

I have heard lots of good things about these reusable breast pads, as oppose to be absorbent these pads prevent leaking in the first place (again i haven’t used these myself so if anyone who has wants to get in touch to let us know what they are like please comment below and we will love you forever).

Quoted from their website

“LilyPadz® are the revolutionary alternative to traditional nursing pads combining such unique features as flexibility, breathability, invisibility, and “sticks-to-your-ability” to provide the kind of protection every expectant and nursing mother needs.Whether or not you breastfeed your baby, inconvenient, leaky and let’s admit it, “obvious” nursing pads are the last thing you want to worry about during and after your pregnancy. The special soft, flexible and non-absorbent material in LilyPadz® conforms to your breast for a secure fit, allowing you to wear whatever you like with confidence. Now that you have a choice…
Say goodbye to uncomfortable, unreliable and unattractive nursing bras and pads!”

What i’ve found good is to read some of the reviews on Amazon for these as it’s reviews from women who have used them . You can find some of the reviews HERE.

Now time for the disposable breastfeeding pads:

Lansinoh Disposable Nursing Pads

Now Lansinoh is a brand i personally know and love, their cream was a total life saver when i first started breastfeeding and sorts out your sore boobies and i cannot recommend it highly enough. So what are their breast pads like?

Again i have used Amazon to help me out here , so some of the customer reviews are available here

They seem to have a cracking review, even one of the worst reviews only wasn’t keen because they were individually wrapped but thought they did their job briliantly.

60 breastpads for £3.99 they seem a real bargain.

There are lots more disposable breastpads, lots of supermarkets dot heir won range and there are varying reviews depending upon brand. Lots of ladies had issues with leakage and like myself wander pads, so maybe it’s trial and error to find the right one for you?

Again pro’s and cons for disposable Vs washable ones – environmental issues washable ones come out top but you’ve got to remember to wash them (some people this is no biggy). Disposable ones cheaper to initially buy but how many are you going to need over the course of your breastfeeding journey? Again are they really cheaper in the long run?

It’s a close one to call, which breastpads did you find the best?

What would i wear to Coachella festival that was breastfeeding friendly? Although this being said i have no idea what Coachella is like as i’ve never actually been, is it a place for kids to hang out? I’m thinking it’s a bit like the Glastonbury festival is over here. I do know that lots of people find it a mecca for finding new fashions (as well as the music of course!) here in the UK we get little snippets of the festival and they are nearly always about the fashion and which celeb is wearing what.

SO if i was heading off to sunny california i think i would go for our OWL blacknursing tees for the night time / evenings and for the day i’d probably rock with our laid back High 5 nursing shirt . I’m not into dresses at festivals, i went to the reading festival here in the UK way back in the 90’s and a total of 5 days camping can get you in quite a state, i can’t imagine whats it’s like with a baby but i guess this is where breastfeeding would come into it’s own because there are no bottles to keep clean etc. Food on the go !

I’m not too sure how family friendly music festivals are these days? I have gone to a few music festivals pre having children and they were cool but it was all about having a drink and dancing all night, something that i wouldn’t be doing with kids. At the Reading festival and i saw the Red Hot Chilli Peppers who were amazing but they weren’t on stage till way past 10pm and it didn’t stop till gone 1am – so you wouldn’t be taking your young kids to this (well i speak for myself here) . I guess it would have to all about the day time and the experience? I hear Camp besitval is cool and family orientated, the 2012 line up includes The Happy Mondays which i think would always be entertaining ! There are LOADS of kids friendly acts too. Although just looking at their website the tickets are £185 each per adult – ouch. Anyone ever been and know if it’s worth going? Defo looks like a different vibe from Coachella !!! No Dr Dre for a start- now i’ll leave that up to you if thats good or bad!

What a cool week, Prima Pregnancy & Birth magazine have chosen our BLue Owl nursing top to feature in their magazine . It’s really great because we didn’t pay for this feature (lots of companies say hey we are in this magazine and actually they paid to be there) Prima actually really digs our range of nursing wear to chose our breastfeeding top to feature.

I gotta admit the owl nursing shirt is really cool, lots of our customers say they get loads of really nice comments when they wear them and nobody knows it’s a nursing top they think it’s just a really nice top . You see our nursing tops are not obvious and they are great to wear when you stop bereastfeeding too.

Here is our Feature in The Prima Pregnancy & Birth :

The pregnancy spanx featured in this page look kinda weird yet interesting. I think these would be great to help give your bump some support, i know when i had my 2 girls when it got to the end i felt my bump was moosive (it was although i think it was more of a food baby then my daughter, i did love the doughnuts!) and i bought a belt thing which was supposed to go under the bump to help support and take some strain off your back; i was ok for a bit nut i think it cut the blood supply off to my legs if i sat down! So these pregnancy spanx look like a good alternative.

So which is your favourite out of our nursing tops? We are just beginning with our wholesale programme and our nursing clothes will be available to by from Australia, Southern Ireland and a great store up in Scotland; so we are spreading the FeelsGood feeling around the world – slow but sure my friends. So if there is a store in your city you’d like to see our breastfeeding clothes then let them know about us and we can get the party started!

Breastfeed in public with the knowledge in one of our nursing tops you won’t be showing you post baby tummy to the world, and no one will know it’s a breastfeeding top when it’s not in action. Breastfeeding totally rocks and so do our nursing tee’s.

All our nursing Tee’s are super soft both for you and for your baby to snuggle, they was well and aren’t just limited to using whilst you are breastfeeding, lots of our custoemrs wear their shirts long after breastfeeding has stopped so don’t think of them as part of your maternity wardrobe think of them as yours for as long as you want them to be.

It’s really cool when someone describes you as a trend setter and this week that’s what our breast feeding tops have been called twice.

It’s kinda weird because we really love retro (I’m watching The Fresh Prince as I write this, I love fresh prince really cracks me up and Carltons dance is a classic) and 1950′s style so to be called a trend setter is preeeeettyy cool.

Sometimes I think if you really want to make a change you have to stick your neck out, take a chance and hope people see things the same way you do. Personally ( and this is just me) hated the mumsy maternity & nursing clothes available when I had my girls, and wanted to feel like me again and get up an put something I actually wanted to wear on and know for a fact I could breast feed in it, and also breast feed in it without showing everyone what I got!

my youngest daughter had colic when she was about 5 weeks old and she hasn’t for around 5 weeks and it knocked me for 6. My eldest daughter never had it so it took a while to guess what it was and I can remember no matter how much I rocked her she would be up crying all night and I mean all night. Even my singing if shiny happy people didn’t make an inpact (just for the record I cannot sing and Matt says the cats flock to our house when I do try !) . So for 5 weeks I just wanted something I knew I could throw on , look good, look like myself and feed her easily that and not need to remember to take anything out with me when I did Russle up enough energy to go out.

So it was pretty cool I owned a nursing clothes company! Now I know not everyone is gonna rock our style, I guess that’s why there are so many clothing brands in the world but I am honestly so chuffed at the support we have had so far , and we are making plans for the future that will see new n
Breast feeding clothes designs, and new products to help mums in their breast feeding journey.

We are spreading our wings and Mama FeelsGood nursing clothes wil be available in many places around the world, which is totally exciting and something I am super proud of.
