Happy 2011

Happy new year everyone, hope 2010 was good for you and 2011 will be even better.

2010 rocked for us, Mama Feelsgood did it’s second complete year of trading (we went live with our website October 2008) and it’s been really good, in fact a lot better than i could have thought. Fun times, sad times , we’ve moved location to a bigger office met lots of lovely people along the way  had a baby (my lovely daughter Erin) and made big plans for 2011.

I started mama Feelsgood back in 2005 really, it was in my head for abour 3 years and finally got things moving back in 2008; MFG is my baby , maybe i am too attached to it but i have put SO much effort into it. I just wanted to provide nursing mothers with some other options for clothing, something thats gonna make you feel good, and something for you. So much attention is put on your babies ( and totally so they are very precious things we would do anything for) but along the way it’s really easy to forget yourself; especially second/ third etc time around. I noticed with having Erin this year who is my second baby that you just get on with it, the pregnancy and birth etc i’m not saying it’s not special because course it is but you have so much going on with the first baby that right there with you that days go by and before you know it your baby is out and you are full throttle again.

Now our nursing shirts are not going to get up in the night and feed your baby, neither are they going to restore your pre pregnancy body and wash your hair for you on THOSE days when all you wanna have is some time to yourself and sleep, but what i hope they will do is give you a choice of something you would want and enjoy wearing which fits in with your life right now and provides a bit of coverage for yourself of things you would rather kept you you & your loved ones!

I’ve been working super hard this year (believe me i was packing orders 3 days after having my c-section when Erin was alseep) and our breastfeeding dresses will be with us mid January and also some breastfeeding tops/ blouses will be here. We will be doing our photo shoot for these late January so they will be in store soon. Also to join these we are bringing our some new graphic nursing T-shirts too. So lots going on. To make room for these lots of our old style graphic prints are on sale so check them out because when they are gone they won’t be re-printed.

Anyways i scaddaddle now as i’m rambling on but thanks for checking us out in 2010 and we promise 2011 there will be more Mama Feelsgood goodies :)

Take care, Liz

New Breastfeeding Dress and a trip to taunton!

It’s been a very big week in the life of Mama Feelsgood, i went to a really interesting meeting on Monday in Taunton with 6 other companies to talk about exporting and growing my business. It was really useful for me as the other 6 companies which went are all older and more established than us and 1 of them in particular i look up to very much and i can see why because the owner of it was very lovely and personable ( she runs a multi million pound company yet isn’t up her own bum at all which was really nice to see) and then 1 thing that came across is everyone loves their product that they produce. Myself not being an acception . So it has given me great confidence and in 2011 you will see big changes to Mama Feelsgood.

One of these changes will be an extention in our breastfeeding clothing range. I had the final samples through yesterday for our nursing dress and new breastfeeding top and i am well chuffed with them. Really lovely heavy fabric, in lovely designs that will look fabulous when you aren’t breastfeeding anymore, no one will know they are nursing tops / dresses so it’s an extension to your normal wardrobe too. Lots of ladies continue to wear our breastfeeding T-shirts after they stop nursing because they don’t look like nursing tops.

As a young business we really are building our reputation on providing good quality breastfeeding clothing at affordable prices which you will actually want to wear! One of the fundamental things we believe is we want to make clothes from good fabric that you won’t be able to see your underwear through or is so light that in the winter you’ll be freezing, or way too short you have to wear leggings with the be able to go out in. We re a UK business and proud, and as my nan would say treat others how you would want to be treated – so we make clothes that we ourselves would be happy to wear :) Thanks everyone for their support, we are committed to making quality nursing wear.

Nursing dresses – which do you prefer long or short sleeve?

OK guys so which is it long or short sleeve ?

It’s kinda hard here in the UK to have a nursing dress that can take you through all the changing months, as we all know our weather can be pretty unpredictable so sometimes it can be baking in months like May and other times it can be a wash out. So what would you like to see from the ideal breastfeeding dress?

Personally i’m not mad keen about my arms , gotta tad too much bingo wings going on for my liking so i always go for the long sleeve nursing dress or 3/4 length, plus i alway think with a 3/4 length sleeve you can wear a cardigan over in the winter so get some good wear out if it. Now if we lived in California it would be a totally different matter, but hey we don’t ha ha!

Our new range which will contain a nursing dress / breastfeeding dress also had some nursing tops added in the mix too. We would love to bring out a maooosive range of nursing clothes but hey we are  we are a new company, so have to take things slow and steady ; We design and manufacture our own brand of breastfeeding wear  which is very rare here in the UK , so its like they say about toned muscles if you don;t use it you’ll loose it. We really do need your support, we don’t charge as much for our nursing clothes as most of the on-line breastfeeding boutiques or the maternity high street stores, so it;s a bit like Mary Portus says in her recent TV series about local stores we really need your support.

Let us know your ideas about your ideal nursing dress .
