Cool Beans – Prima Pregnancy & Baby chose our nursing tops

What a cool week, Prima Pregnancy & Birth magazine have chosen our BLue Owl nursing top to feature in their magazine . It’s really great because we didn’t pay for this feature (lots of companies say hey we are in this magazine and actually they paid to be there) Prima actually really digs our range of nursing wear to chose our breastfeeding top to feature.

I gotta admit the owl nursing shirt is really cool, lots of our customers say they get loads of really nice comments when they wear them and nobody knows it’s a nursing top they think it’s just a really nice top . You see our nursing tops are not obvious and they are great to wear when you stop bereastfeeding too.

Here is our Feature in The Prima Pregnancy & Birth :

The pregnancy spanx featured in this page look kinda weird yet interesting. I think these would be great to help give your bump some support, i know when i had my 2 girls when it got to the end i felt my bump was moosive (it was although i think it was more of a food baby then my daughter, i did love the doughnuts!) and i bought a belt thing which was supposed to go under the bump to help support and take some strain off your back; i was ok for a bit nut i think it cut the blood supply off to my legs if i sat down! So these pregnancy spanx look like a good alternative.

So which is your favourite out of our nursing tops? We are just beginning with our wholesale programme and our nursing clothes will be available to by from Australia, Southern Ireland and a great store up in Scotland; so we are spreading the FeelsGood feeling around the world – slow but sure my friends. So if there is a store in your city you’d like to see our breastfeeding clothes then let them know about us and we can get the party started!

Discreet nursing clothes / discreet breastfeeding clothes

We love making funky nursing tops which keep you covered when you need to be but look like an everyday shirt when you want them to be. Breastfeed in public with the knowledge in one of our nursing tops you won’t be showing you post baby tummy to the world, and no one will know it’s a breastfeeding top when it’s not in action.  Breastfeeding totally rocks and so do our nursing tee’s.

All our nursing Tee’s are super soft both for you and for your baby to snuggle, they was well and aren’t just limited to using whilst you are breastfeeding, lots of our custoemrs wear their shirts long after breastfeeding has stopped so don’t think of them as part of your maternity wardrobe think of them as yours for as long as you want them to be.

Our nursing shirts are fun & funky too so if you feel you’d like to try one check out our website www.mamafeelsgood.com

Trend setting breast feeding clothes

It’s really cool when someone describes you as a trend setter and this week that’s what our breast feeding tops have been called twice.

It’s kinda weird because we really love retro (I’m watching The Fresh Prince as I write this, I love fresh prince really cracks me up and Carltons dance is a classic) and 1950′s style so to be called a trend setter is preeeeettyy cool.

Sometimes I think if you really want to make a change you have to stick your neck out, take a chance and hope people see things the same way you do. Personally ( and this is just me) hated the mumsy maternity & nursing clothes available when I had my girls, and wanted to feel like me again and get up an put something I actually wanted to wear on and know for a fact I could breast feed in it, and also breast feed in it without showing everyone what I got!

my youngest daughter had colic when she was about 5 weeks old and she hasn’t for around 5 weeks and it knocked me for 6. My eldest daughter never had it so it took a while to guess what it was and I can remember no matter how much I rocked her she would be up crying all night and I mean all night. Even my singing if shiny happy people didn’t make an inpact (just for the record I cannot sing and Matt says the cats flock to our house when I do try !) . So for 5 weeks I just wanted something I knew I could throw on , look good, look like myself and feed her easily that and not need to remember to take anything out with me when I did Russle up enough energy to go out.

So it was pretty cool I owned a nursing clothes company! Now I know not everyone is gonna rock our style, I guess that’s why there are so many clothing brands in the world but I am honestly so chuffed at the support we have had so far , and we are making plans for the future that will see new n
Breast feeding clothes designs, and new products to help mums in their breast feeding journey.

We are spreading our wings and Mama FeelsGood nursing clothes wil be available in many places around the world, which is totally exciting and something I am super proud of.

Breastfeeding tops for summer

I know i know it’s not summer yet here in the UK but i have to start planning out my summer range of breastfeeding tops and am looking for inspiration.

It’s always so hard to tell just what our summer is going to be like, as i remember from last year there wasn’t that many days were there when it was sunny? Although i can remember working up quite a sweat when i had my big delivery of new breastfeeding tops and being on my own.

This is the picture of me afterwards :

Yeap i was pretty hanging (i also managed to hit myself in the eye with one of the boxes so had a bit of an eye bleed going on in this picture, hmmm attractive my husband is 1 lucky man lol) . I had such a stress on that day, literally hundreds of boxes all containing my lovely nursing shirts (all of which i love…yeap i’m a saddo) , a really knarky lorry driver who was on my case right from the start , telling me he wanted all his pallets back and like he wanted them yesterday (all my boxes were on the pallets hence my stress) ; and all the boxes were on the bottom level and my warehouse space is on the top floor!! Normally i have Matt and some of his friends but that day i was all on my own. Well i say on my own Erin was withm e but my mother in Law helped out with looking after her :)

SO what designs do you guys want for the summer?

I have some ideas but it’s really hard to know if they will be a huge hit or a flop! I admit i do like some of our current nursing tops more than others, but not all the ones i am mad on sell really well; maybe they look different in person and different on-line??? I really need to get our nursing tops into some independent maternity store here in the UK but the sad thing is there aren’t too many of them. We’ve had just in the last week 4 emails from ladies who all want to take a look at our nursing tops but there aren’t any store available. Maybe i should just go for it and email John Lewis ?  We have 1 shop i know of here in Bristol which sells nursingwear but it will only take clothes if they are organic so that is a no for us . If you know of any independent stores near you please let us know and we will get on the case.

So back to summer bretasfeeding tops, we are shortlisting our new designs, and will be facebooking about them soon, so as always if you want to be a part of things either email us, leave a comment or facebook us x

Nursing tops for big breasts

We have lots of lovely breastfeeding tops which are suitable for ladies with bigger breasts.

This is our Owl breastfeeding Tee in Blue , it’s super soft and has a really pretty boat neck design ; it has been designed so you can nurse your baby really simply , just lift the top shirt up and pull either side of the under vest aside (depending upon which boob you’re going to breastfeed from) and there you go, access to nurse. The undervest keeps your tummy covered and is the same colour os the top shirt so you can’t even tell if your not looking very hard that your top shirt has been pulled up. The undershirt has 5% elastane so is stretchy and can be moved around bigger boobs without digging in.

One problem with being gifted in the boobie department is that some tops are big everywhere ie not just in the boob area so it  looks like you are wearing someone elses shirt. Our nursing tops have been cut with the post baby shape in mind so do not come with bump; there is room for the post baby tummy ( hey we are normal women and your body isn’t gonna just snap back into shape, especially if you were like me and ate waaay to many doughnuts when pregnant) . Our nursing tops also have darts at the bust region so add more shape which helps to fit you better.

If you want to take a closer look at our size charts to get the correct fit for you all bust measurements are on there (size charts are found on the product description pages) .

Mama’s home grown Melons Breastfeeding tops are back in stock

Yay our Mama’s melons nursing tops in red are now back in stock in all sizes.

This is such a lovely breastfeeding top and it’s funny too. I love the 1950′s and this top really fits thats era whilst being totally functional for breastfeeding in and it’s mega cool because you can wear the nursing shirt even when you stop breastfeeding. You can either leave the under layer in it or snip it out. I have tons of our breastfeeding tops which i wear and i’m no longer breatsfeeding. All our breastfeeding tops are well made and will last so don’t stop wearing them because you don’t breastfeed anymore.

A twitter friend of mine recently had her second baby and she has kept her tops from her first baby (who is now 2) and they are still rockin it, she wore them too whilst she wasn’t breastfeeding because she liked them so ladies don;t feel these tops are just for breastfeeding they aren’t !

This photo above of our melons nursing shirt brings back cool memories, we took this shot on a freaky hot day back in October, it was really bizzare because i thought it was going to be freezing and this freak hot day just came along. This particular photo is taken on a special street in bRistol which has tons of cool street art and Aiofe our model carefully wedged herself in this weird doorway which was half way up an house in order to get thsi shot.

Was a fun day, look forward to doing many more.

Plus size breastfeeding tops

What do you consider as plus size?

Some stores class a size 14 as plus size but i can’t say as i go with that as the UK average size is a 16 so how can a 14 be plus size?

We carry breastfeeding tops up to a size 18 and these are a genuine size 18 not a 16- 18 . Here is our size charts for our breastfeeding tops:

Some of of nursing tops have slightly different cuts depending upon style so if you are wanting a plus size breastfeeding top which has a little more room i would go for our new 3/4 length sleeve ones, these have  a more generous cut from our short sleeved nursing tops (these nursing tops available in plain and other graphic prints too) .

We do want to extend our range of breastfeeding tops into sizes 20 and 22 but this will have to wait a little longer as it costs a fortune to do a range of new tops. But i promise you we are working on it and when we have established ourselves further we sill invest in a full range of plus size breasfeeding clothes.

Going to baby shows to buy breastfeeding clothes ?

Ok so there are some big baby shows (sadly no big ones ever come to Bristol *sad face*) there is the Birmingham Baby show which next year is on the 18th – 20th May 2012 or the Earls court baby show which is the 24th-26th February and i think there is a big baby show in manchester too but would you go to one specifically to buy breastfeeding clothes? Its seems a really cool idea that we should attend one , we don’t have a bricks and mortar store, and in England we currently sell our breastfeeding clothes via our website www.mamafeelsgood.com  so to be able to get out the office and meet you guys, and actually show how our breastfeeding clothes work would be super cool. It’s always hard to buy clothes on-line especially maternity clothes and breastfeeding clothes are even harder because your body changes so much after you’ve had a baby (we do show size charts on-line but still it;’hard to judge sometimes, lots of people don’t know their measurements and can’t be arsed to measure themselves) so for you to be able to try them on is a bonus – plus we would get to see tons of cute babies :)

The major thing for us is that these baby shows are a maaoooosive punch to the wallet, i’m talking if i chose to do just 1 of these shows  me & the family would be eating baked beans on toast for the rest of the year! I can’t really say how much they are but just the costs of the booth itself is big dudes; so as with of things in life you have to weigh up the pros and the cons and see if it a really possibility to have a stand at one of these baby shows; and the sad thing is i don’t think i could, not right now. I totally love what i do here, and i love bringing funky breastfeeding clothes to all you cool mama’s but the big shows right now are something we cannot do :(

With the recession i honestly don’t know how some companies can keep doing them – all power to them though for doing it but for us here are Mama’s FeelsGood it’s a no for 2012; that is unless we win the lottery! It would mean a big rise in the prices of our breastfeeding clothes which is something we don’t want to do, so for 2012 we will keep doing what we do and maybe 2013 will be the year of the big baby shows for us?

Or if we could get someone to share with them we could do a booth????

I’ll keep thinking up ideas!

Take care, Liz

New website means better goodies for breast feeding mums

Hurrah after what seems like an eternity we have gotten around to getting our new website on-line, it’s taken ages basically because i haven’t got my butt into gear and there is always lots to do; plus (i won’t bore you with all the details) i’ve had so much hassle with people not doing what they are paid to do ie accountants it’s given me a proper headache! But this has all been changed now and i have found someone who is brill :)

I’ve also been thinking about my blog, i’m sorta fed up with just writing “and here’s our next nursing top” which seems kinda insincere and crappy; i really love Mama FeelsGood, it is totally my 3rd baby (which sometimes can be a pain because i take some things way too personally) so i wanted to write bits about the company, the clothes we produce, why we make them, my daily role in running the company and maybe basically my life. To me this seems more worthwhile rather than churning out spam ! So apologies if this isn’t what you want to hear, trust me my life is not that thrilling , i promise not to blog about going to Tesco etc!

It’s getting close to the end of 2011 and looking back on this year of working on Mama FeelsGood i feel pretty good about what we have achieved : We reached the final of the Practical Parenting awards and also the Mother & Baby awards (this is thought of as THE best awards, sorta Oscars for the nursery world) and to get in the final in both of these when competition is so strong was a real achievement for us.

Our Award Logo

After all we are a small company so to get recognition is really cool, plus it was the first year we had ever entered any competitions so all is good. Of course if we have won i would have had a party that lasted about a week, but hey you gotta take credit where its due and we got in the final so excellenti !

Also in 2011 we have introduced our new Money Penny nursing tops and breastfeeding dresses – i made sure when these were made that they we thicker fabric so they are durable for breastfeeding and not so thin you can see through them; 1 thing i found when breastfeeding was i had to wear quite a substantial nursing bra because my wongers were maoooosive and it wasn’t the type of underwear i would want everyone to see shining through my garments so ladies i have thought of this and the thicker fabric has been used for our nursing dress ! This also goes for our Money Penny nursing tops too as they are made of the same material (and work on the same breastfeeding access as the dresses).

Also our new boat neck nursing tops are in store, these are SO soft it’s untrue; also the underlayer of the tops is the same colour as the top layer, our previous style nursing tops were mostly white underlayers and different top layer colours  so we’ve changed things up and all new shirts have same colour top & bottoms . For example our Tattooo owl nursing top

So who knows what 2012 will bring ? Hopefully more new designs and maybe a few surprises ?
