My sister Sue came around today to have a practice with her new camera she got for christmas, she did A level photography way back when and hasn’t used a camera for a while so i said she could do some T-shirt pics to get going.

We had a really cool time, lots of photos taken (i will up date some more on here during the week) it turned out my daughter is a natural in front of the camera and loved modeling, shame the same couldn’t b said for me……..

I can’t help it i just don,t like my photo being taken, the more i tried not to look posey the worse it got. So when we looked back over the photos at the end of the day it was a real laugh (honestly some are soo bad i can’t post on here, i am so pale in some it looks like i’ve never seen daylight and others well lets just say not good……….).

This was one fo the funny ones, Sue snapped it just as i was putting on a mama’s melons maternity tee and i look like i got a turtles head  (not the out the butt type ha ha). Thanks sue ha ha

I am honestly not joking but i went out Friday night for an early christmas meal with some work friends (thanks Christine for organising that) and i had a hair in my soup, not any old hair…..yeap the worst kind …yeap your right one of those!!!

Shame because it was a really nice soup!!! The main course was really nice and the desert was out of this world but after having a bad experience with the starter it  kinda put me off the restuarant!!

Some exciting times ahead for Mama Feelsgood, with the new year aproaching it is a really good time to reflect on things business wise and plan a path ahead for where we are going to go with the business. We are going to release more desgins to broaden our range of graphic tees, and hopefully some new style tees , both maternity and breastfeeding will be hitting our store in 2009. With the credit crunch it is a scary time to be starting a business but we are really happy with the first couple of months we have been trading, and really enjoy what we do.

Mama Feelsgood – Maternity tees you wanna wear!

Believe me ALOT goes into making a maternity or Breastfeeding tee, to get the whole package of a final shirt you have to go through alot of steps. One of the most exciting is the seeing the final print on the shirt. There are alot of differing methods of getting a graphic print on a shirt, we use the silk screen method for all our tees. We find it costs more to do than some other printing methods but the finish is fantastic and it produces a long lasting higher quality print which will wash better over  and over , the one minor draw back is that the print will fade over time and with washing, but in a way that adds to the shirt because you get that retro look, which is totally cool.

This is a fun look at how the process of screen printing a shirt is done, by the way we don’t print wolves!! ha ha. Alot goes into printing the tees and the more colour prints you have on a shirt the more complicated and the more expensive it is.

So basically the way we make our maternity tops and breastfeeding tees is individual to each shirt. Everyone is hand printed so maybe slighly different from each other, but that makes them kinda special, just like us

Just wanted to say thanks to all our customers and friends thanks for the feedback. As we are a new company the only way we are going to get things spot on is to receive feedback from our customers so to all those people who have sent emails / letters thanks guys

Whether good or bad all feedback is always well received, thats how we can make things better. We are planning to change our postage charges for maternity acessories as we basically based all our postage charges on sending T-shirts and not the bands alone. So hopefully with some help from Rapid Web (our website company) we can change our postage rates to if you buy a belly band alone it will be a flat rate of £1.20.

Also it’s very exciting our second run of breastfeeding tees will be in store hopefully in January and these are a little different from our ones at the moment as the under layers have 95% cotton 5 % spandex, and they are slightly a  longer length. We are also introducing some new graphics which will be totally cool.

Don;t know if it’s the flu or something worse than that but i think i am going to have to stay in bed all day today. I sound like such a whimp but i feel so shocking.

SO just wanted to say apologies for those of you who have sent an email (especially louise and Hazel) and i didn’t get back to you as super quick as i normally do, i was probably off suffering somewhere under a duvet!!! As always though shirts are going out as per normal, and i always promise to get back to people if you phone or email.

Mama Feelsgood – Home of Funky maternity wear

It started with a top…… thats all 1 top, and it mushroomed from there.

I had a crazy idea of starting my own internet store back in 2005, basically buying wholesale and selling other peoples labels. One problem i thought all the clothes sucked and they were hideously over priced….thats 2 problems!!

Anyways one day i travelled from Bristol up to London to see some maternity collections from a smaller retailer and was so cheesed off and dissapointed with the rubbish i saw. The owner patronised me on how customers will pay £65 for a maternity top even though it was made out of viscose (cheaper to produce than 100% cotton) and how maternity fashions are always at least a year behind current catwalk shows….what the …

It made me abit angry, it was like in dirty dancing where the holiday camp owner talks down to Johnny and belittles him (not that i’m running a holiday camp, or i’m johnny!!) , kinda you don’t know anything, just shut up and buy. Needless to say i didn’t place an order.

So i thought no way do i want to sell maternity clothes and breastfeeding tops i am not confident in, or that i don’t like, so i took a GAINT step and thought i’d make my own, well not literally because believe you me if it was me sewing the tees they wouldn’t last long ha ha ha. So it has taken roughly 3 years to go from idea to mamafeelsgood.com.

There’s been loads of ups and downs, mets lots of lovely people along the way and i can honestly say i am super glad i’ve done it. I’ve learnt so many things, and my main philosophy has been don’t compromise. We don’t make our tees from the cheaper fabrics ie viscose, polyester, and we don’t compromise on the weight of the cotton used; ours are all thick good quality, lasting cotton tees. We want to get involved with our customers and build a really good relation with them. We are here to help not to fleece you and run!!
