We Made The Bristol Evening Post – Maternity wear in Bristol

Ok ok so you’ll probably thinking what the hell this , maternity wear in Bristol ??  but for us it’s mega exciting, this is our debut in the loval paper here in Bristol and it’s showcasing which companies were attending the Little Monster Show (show for baby and toddlers) last week, and we are listed under maternity wear. Whoop whoop.

We had a great time at the show, met alot of lovely pregnant mums who loved our maternity wear, and met alot of lovely ladies who purchased our breastfeeding tops, it was funny because obviously maternity wear was not really relevant for them and they were gutted they had found us too late !!ha ah, never mind they bought our breastfeeding tops and looked cool!!

Also at the show was cuddle dry and trunki   which was cool because they were both featured on Dragon Den the TV show. They are both really cool companies, there were alot of happy children going for rides on suitcases that day at the show!!

How To relieve the pain of sore nipples when breastfeeding

If you choose to breastfeed your baby then at some time you can gaurentee you will suffer either sore or painful breasts / nipples (unless you are amazingly lucky!!).

So what can you do to help yourself relieve some of the discomfort?

Alot of the pain especailly when just commencing breastfeeding is due to the sensitivity of your nipples when your baby feeds on them. Basically they just aren’t use to getting some much attention !! So it might have seemed like an old wives tale but when pregnant it can help get your breasts ready i you occasionally rub your nipples (sorry this seems like such a weird thing to say, but apparetnyl it can help!).

OK so the above suggestion doesn’t really help when you are actually feeding, so what else?

Lansinoh  is a life saver , it can be abit expensive but 1 tube does go along way and we would recommend giving it ago for sure.

Wet tea bags – Some GP’s recommend putting cold wet tea bags on your nipples to help them recover, (somthing to do with whats in the tea apparently), but remember to wash them off before feeding your baby.

Breast shields can also be of great help, heres a link to some http://www.birthandbabyorders.com/Shop.php?c=27 , they basically provide a physical barrier between the nipple and your babies mouth.

It is vital to igure out the cause of your pain ie just from day to day feeding, or it’s possible you may have thrush, mastitis, baby maybe biting, or not latching on correctly. This website is fantastic for help: http://www.howtodothings.com/family-and-relationships/a2393-how-to-relieve-nipple-pain-in-breastfeeding.html , and remember if you are ever in doubt ask your midwife, thats what their there for!

Breastfeeding with nipple piercings

Alot of women have body piercings, it’s alot more common now that it ever used to be , so is it safe to breastfeed your baby if you have a nipple piercing?

Alot of urban myths have been spread about this, ie the milk squirts out in about 5 differnt directions which of course is un true! Having your nipples pierced does not affect the actual production of milk, but in some cases (and this is the minority) it can interfere the delivery of milk. In rare occasions having your nipple pierced it can cause scar tissue to form which MAY lead to blockage o the milk ducts , so if you have had your nipples pierced and you choose to breastfeed and you feel your milk isn’t being delivered very well please seek your midwives advice. There can be many reasons for your milk not being delivered so please seek medical attention of you are concerned at all.

In a more positive light some women have found that having had their nipples pierced actually improved their breastfeeding experience, and found it made nursing alot easier.

Obviously you must be aware of what’s going into your babies mouth at all times and it is strongly advised that ladies remove all nipple jewelry before breastfeeding as there is always the possibility of your baby choking or it causing damage to your babies soft palate etc.

Here are some very good websites which explain the pros and cons of breastfeeding with piercings a bit more.

Every pregnant woman / new mother should know about our maternity & Breastfeeding tops

WOW this is what 1 lady said at “The Little Monster Show” we attended on sunday, how cool is that. It was such a lovely thing to hear (hey we all love a bit of bigging up sometimes!!) she also said we shoould think about having a stall at the Baby show in Birmigham NEC or Excel in London.

It had defiantely given us something to think about, advertising can be really expansive as i’m sure you can guess, so ladies if you dig our tees let your friends know !! :) Actually we are expecting the post man to bring at any time our copy of Vogue magazine that we are in. Thats 1 small perk of actually being featured in it you get to receive a copy the day before it goes on general release.

We’ll let you know what it looks like :)

Wow Just Did Our First Ever Show

Just revovering from doing our first show at the local baby and toddlers show in Bristol. It was really cool to meet so many lovely women, don’t know if being pregnant or just had a baby does something to you because everyone was so nice.

Was really nice to see some of our tops on people! That might sound strange but we see so many tees packed and ready to go and not alot actually on people (apart from ourselves and my sister of course!) so it was like, “wow that Lips Nursing T-shirt looks amazing on” honestly it was cool.

We were advised by another company that we should take our Maternity and breastfeeding T-shirts to excel or a big london show, but man it was hard work just doing a local show! I was up a 4am with my mind wizzing over and we were setting our stall up at 8 so it’s really tiring. But hey it was worth it. When we do another one we’ll let you know!
